As the school year comes to a close I would like to send many thanks to everyone for helping make our year so successful! Our school is an amazing place to work and the parent support we receive is one of the main reasons, another is the kids themselves! Thank you for sharing them with us every day!
Both Ms. Paldon and myself would also like to thank you once more for the lovely and very generous gifts. We are overwhelmed by the kindness of the words you write as well as the gifts you give. Thank you so much.
I have (with patience and help from my fantastic IT department) emailed Devon a link which she can then email to all of you to view or download the year end video. It is designed with an "end" or closing date after which access to the link is shut down. Be sure to check and take action when you receive the email and link. Enjoy!
I hope you will all have a safe and wonderful summer. Enjoy your time together, make lots of memories and have lots of fun!
See you in September,
Ms. I.

Our last week...June 25-29
Thank you as always to our valued volunteers. This week we celebrated our last Sharing Assembly with many of you, thanks for coming out! Well done to our Aranya, Ashlyn and Stuart who earned certificates for perseverance.
We were treated to a class snack on Thursday by Patricia (Kristina's mom) whose chocolate chip pancakes and chocolate dipped strawberries were very well received by all...read none were left!! Many thanks Patricia, you made their day! We also were gifted 2 new books this week after Mystery Reader Jenn P. ( Megan's mom) read them to us. Very thoughtful and also well received, we love our books!
Next week we celebrate our seniors with graduation on Tuesday afternoon. The growth and development of the kids over the two years of Kindergarten is remarkable. They have worked hard and done well! For the parents of our seniors, the back door (our regular entry/exit door please) will be opened at 2 pm for you and your guests to enter and be seated. Our program will be complete by regular dismissal time (3:05) and we will try to be out of the way of the Before and After group as quickly as we can. Along with my technical department ( read my very patient husband) I am putting together the class video from the almost 400 pictures we took over the course of the year. It will be shown at the graduation and then he usually manages to get it posted to the blog site for the weekend after school ends but if you would like your own copy please send in a memory stick with your child's name on it for me to copy it to.
Tuesday will also be report card day for the school. As noted earlier this year by Mr. Currie, no teachers will be designated on report cards for grades SK to 7. Our JK students will of course remain in the class with me. Mailbags will be used to send home a large package of paperwork with your child on Tuesday, please be sure to go through it carefully.
On Thursday we will enjoy our last pizza day. Please read the parent email outlining how an
OUTDOOR pizza day will work very carefully. Kids without parental supervision will eat in the park with Ms. Joy, Ms. Paldon and myself and then at 12:00 return to our Kindergarten yard for supervised outdoor play time. See you there!
The week looks like this:
Monday - No poetry to return, it will come Tuesday! LIB/IT PM
Tuesday - LIB/IT AM, Graduation 2-3 pm for SK parents
Wednesday -
Thursday - Year End Assembly 9:00, Last day!
Friday - PA Day, no class for kids, happy summer!
Have a great week,
Ms. I.

Week of June 18-22
Happy Father's Day to all our great dads out there! My own dad has given me so many great gifts in life; feelings, memories and passions that I treasure. I can never thank him enough but I can make sure that those traits stay present and important in everything I do and pass them on to my own children. We hope you will have fun with our little game and enjoy spending time together. Enjoy your day!
Thank you to our valued volunteers! At this point, most little readers and library books have been returned. Those of you with outstanding library books please help Ms. McGee keep our library in great shape by looking for and returning those books OR sending in the replacement value she has indicated. The kids will continue to get reminder notes and stickers until the bitter end so please try to help out! If you don't get a reminder, your account is clear!
Friday will be our last Sharing Assembly of the year, 9:00 in the gym. For those of you graduating to Grade One with your kids, the 1-8 format is very different and does not include a mini concert nor is it a parent attended event so come on out on Friday and help us say good bye to the year and perhaps good bye yo Kindergarten! We celebrate the character trait of perseverance this month and will congratulate Aranya, Ashlyn and Stuart. Well done!
A gentle reminder for SK parents, if you haven't let me know how many will be in your party at Graduation please do so. Thanks!
Our week looks like this:
Monday - Poetry due back, LIB/IT PM
Tuesday - LIB/IT AM, Mystery Reader PM
Wednesday -
Thursday - Music, Mystery Reader AM
Friday - Sharing Assembly 9:00, Reading Buddies, Talent Show PM
Have a great week!

Week of June 11-15
Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! This week we finish our mailbag reader program by sending a book home on Tuesday and collecting all books in on Friday. If you come across any of our class books or library books from now on, please send them in. Ms McGee has closed the library for circulating books and the class will be doing other activities when they go from now on. If your child has an outstanding library book she will be letting you know this week and if you ultimately cannot find it she will let you know the fee depending if the book was a soft or hard cover. Any fees paid for a book that is later found, will be reimbursed.
A reminder to our SK families that Tuesday, June 26 from 2-3 pm will be our graduation. The celebration will be in our classrom and JK students will be at school with us as it is still a school day for them. JK parents need not attend. I would ask that all families attending let me know how many people will be in your party so we can set out chairs. Please keep in mind that strollers will have to stay outside as we will be at capacity with 28 kids and all of our guests! Many thanks!
Our week looks like this:
Monday - Day 4 yellow library books due, no poetry was sent home
Tuesday - Day 5 orange library books due, mailbags - last book home, Mystery Reader PM
Wednesday -
Thursday - Music, Mystery Reader AM
Friday - All mailbags due, no new books sent home! Reading Buddies
**We will be working on Father's Day treasures this week, if your child will be absent or leaving early on Friday please let me know ahead of time so we can be sure their gift is ready to go! Thanks!
Have a great week,
Ms. I.

Week of June 4-8 The last month!
Thank you as always to our valued volunteers! If you were a JK parent this year, new to the school environment and the role that our grade parents play... you may have been wondering all year "wow, how do I get that job?" (Shameless teacher promoting coming...) If this is you and you have the time and inclination to be a grade parent for our class next year we would love it! Sadly, we lose our awesome Disa, Devon and Patricia to grade one in June and will be looking for replacements (2 works just as well) for the coming year. Speak to them or myself directly if you wonder about exactly how much time and what the expectations are, thanks for considering it!
Thanks to all those who came out to see us do the "Cha cha slide" on Thursday at our Sharing Assembly. They sure are cute in action aren't they? Many thanks to Ms. McGee for working so hard with them! For the SK's going forward "dance" is included with gym and will be a part of their "movement and dance" mark each year. We wish for the kids to have an open mind and an appreciation for all kinds of skills and activities not just the ones that we personally embrace...some of our boys were quite mortified about dancing as their impression is that it is a gender specific activity...hopefully they have a different opinion after participating in and performing for you all and receiving your enthusiastic response! The last Sharing Assembly of the year will be Friday, June 22 to celebrate the character trait of perseverance.
If you saw the kids playing outside this week with sidewalk chalk and bubbles, very enthusiastically I might add! Give Patricia a thank you when you see her, she was in the dollar store (we joke it is a teacher's home away from home) and picked us up these treats! You can imagine that these are the kind of consumables a class can just eat through very quickly and I had completely forgotten we had done just that! Many thanks!
Your child came home with the last Scholastic order of the year on Friday, due by Tuesday, June 5. As always there is a great selection of well priced books, you might consider making a few bundles to get through rainy days in the summer, quiet moments on the deck or dock, car or plane trips - showing my age here, no screens in my day or my kids! Oh my!
Our week looks like this:
Monday - Poetry book back, Day 5 LIB/IT AM, Mystery Reader PM

Wednesday - Music,,Mystery Reader AM

Week of May 28 - June 1
Thank you as always to our valued volunteers - book swappers, pizza helpers and grade parents busy doing Springfest as well as all of you busy sending in all the items LKS is looking for at this time! Many thanks!
The scientist visit went very well, the class had a great time learning and showing off what they already knew to Scientist Jessica. Thanks to our volunteers Marianna, Craig and Suzanne for spending the morning with us. LKS pays for a scientist visit per class per year out of parent funds so thank you all, it is a worthwhile program that we appreciate having the opportunity to take advantage of!
This week we will enjoy showing you our dance moves as Ms. McGee directs the kids at our Sharing Assembly! We recognize Megan and Jameson this month with certificates for the character trait of integrity. Integrity can be explained to primary children as doing the right thing even when no one is watching...not always easy! Well done guys!
Our week looks like this:
Monday - Poetry due back, Day 5 orange LIB/IT AM, Mystery Reader PM
Tuesday - Mailbags
Wednesday - Music, Mystery Reader AM
Thursday - Sharing Assembly 9:00
Friday - Mailbags, Day 4 yellow LIB/IT PM
Saturday - Springfest Rain or Shine!
Have a great week!

Thanks as always to our valued volunteers! This coming week we welcome volunteers Mariana, Craig and Suzanne to our Scientist in the School program - we look forward to a great morning full of magnetic fun with scientist Jessica DaSilva!
There is a lot going on around the school right now and many requests for your attention and donations...please remember any level of donation is welcome and valued, the giving level appropriate for your family is your personal choice. Books (gently used) are being collected for the book drive, stuffed animals/creatures (again gently used) are being collected for the adoption center
that is part of Springfest, tombola bags (loot bags) are being collected for Springfest and finally garden themed donations for our class basket that is part of the Springfest auction are being collected! Any and all items can be sent in to the class with your child and will get to the appropriate spot. You may also hear from your child about "buying ice cream" to support the Terry Fox campaign BUT the Kindergarten classes will NOT be able to do so as our lunch hour is different. If you or your child wish to donate to this campaign please remind your child it is only to purchase cookies NOT ice cream. Thank you!
